Wister Neighborhood Council has been in existence since 1949. In the late 1970's through a partnership with the Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) was awarded a contract to manage a Neighborhood Advisory Committee office (NAC). This office provides a varity of services and activities including, but not limited to, community organiziing, advocacy, code enforcement, blight elimination, neighborhood clean-ups, town watch, economic development assistance, recycling activities, special events, referrals for housing, weatherization, job counseling, emergency food, city sponsored services. Citizens are made aware of the activities of WNC through the local media, flyers and community forums.
